    • I really like this quote because I love living in Iowa. I feel that, even though some things can be challenging, this is still one of the simplest places to live. I also love being in nature and Iowa is a really beautiful place. It might seem plain to others, but if you notice the details, everything has beauty

    Every day I try my best to live my life to the absolute fullest. I am involved in as much as I possibly can, so I can make the best out of the years I have in this life.

    Relationships scare me. Having someone depend on me all the time and care about what I do (while not being my parents) is intense and is way too much pressure for me.

    This quote means a lot to me as a cross country runner. I may not be the fastest runner in the race or even on my team, but I’d like to be the one with the most guts. The one that can push themselves to new levels. The one that doesn’t give up. At the end of the race I’m always in pain and struggling for air, but I still speed up to give the other competitors a run for their money.

    This quote describes what I too think Paradise will be. I love books so much, and my ideal day is to just sit and read. If Paradise could be anything, I hope it would be a library. Then I would sit and read every book I could.

    I really like this quote because that’s exactly what I do when I’m outside. I love seeing beautiful landscapes and sights. Everytime I’m in a new place, I wonder at the sights around me. I love being out in nature, looking at mountains and waterfalls, seeing and hearing the waves crash into the rocks, and admire everything around me.

A lot of the time, I get caught up in the future and worry about what will happen weeks, even months from now. I think that when I do live in the present I am my happiest.     I like this quote because I feel as though it is true. I’m very strong in my faith. I believe that everyone should be spreading love instead of hate. Once you start spreading love, you will be come closer to God, and you will grow stronger in your faith. I also think that everyone will be happier if you spread love.

    I relate to this quote a lot. I make mistakes all the time. I tend to end up stressing about these mistakes because I think that one mistake will change my life. Mistakes don’t really matter because like Hannah Montana said “Everyone makes mistakes.” And Bob Ross says that they are just happy little accidents, so I shouldn’t stress about them. I also love to paint, and a lot of the time when I paint I make mistakes. I turn those mistakes into something beautiful. I try to do that in life too when I make mistakes.

    I am a constant worrier. When I think about it, this quote is very true. Most of the things I constantly worry about, never happen. I need to just calm down and not stress about so many things.

  7. “Games don’t make you violent, lag does. Save our kids, install faster internet.” – I play violent video games a lot and never have I become violent in that way. But the internet really should be faster, it would be a lot less stressful.
    “Turns out sitting on the couch waiting and wishing for money won’t make you rich.” - I’m very lazy and like to spend money a lot even though I don’t have a job and honestly I wish I had more money a lot but all I do is sit on the couch.

    I relate to this quote because it shows my optimistic side. No matter how difficult the situation may seem, I always try to see the good that can come out of it and make the best of it.

    • There is always those people that I will meet that will make me feel uneasy about the way they treat other people. It is easy to forget what people said, but it is difficult to ignore the way that people treat others.

    • In sports if I am confident in myself and tell myself that I can, I will be able to. If I have no confidence and tell myself that I can’t, I probably won’t be able to.

    • To me this quote is about how it would be better for people to hate me for my true self then for them to love me because they think I am a person that I really am not.

    • I chose this quote because I believe that the message is very powerful. It is telling me that I do not have to be “perfect” or fit society’s standards of “normal”. Sometimes it is better to be different or stand out.

  13. 1: “Obviously it’s an exciting time to be a Chicago Bear. A lot of young talent.” -Bears’ outside linebacker Khalil Mack. This was said the day after the Bears traded for Mack, who has completely elevated the Bears defense. I also picked it because the Bears have a lot of young talent, which makes for a bright future.

    2: “The San Francisco 49ers have traded the second pick to the Chicago Bears. With the second pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select Mitchell Trubisky, quarterback, North Carolina.” -NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. This was the moment that it was announced that the Bears drafted Trubisky, who is the great quarterback that the Bears have not had in a long time.

    3: “We have officially named Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy as our new head coach.” -@chicagobears on Twitter. This quote officially announced that the Bears officially hired Nagy, who is a great coach that the Bears have not had in several years.

    4: “You’re never a loser until you quit trying.” -Mike Ditka. Ditka is a former Bears tight end and head coach. I picked this quote because it shows that winners don’t quit, and you should always give your best.

    5. “When you’re good at something, you’ll tell everyone. When you’re great at something, they’ll tell you.” -Walter Payton. Walter Payton is a former Bears running back and is the greatest running back to ever play football. This says that when people start to talk to you about how good you are, you are great at it. It also shows that you shouldn’t talk yourself up and be arrogant.

    6: “Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it.” -George Halas. Halas is the Bears founder, former player, coach, and owner. This quote shows that there is no reason to not give your best, because if you don’t, you might regret it later.

    7: “An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.” -Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was an Indian peace activist and leader of the Indian independence movement against the British. Gandhi always promoted peace, and, in this quote, he says that if everyone were to get revenge, there would be no peace and only pain and hatred.

    8: “We are a country where people of all backgrounds, of all nation of origin, all religions, all races can make a home. America was built by immigrants.” -Hillary Clinton. Clinton ran for president in 2008 and 2016, winning the Democratic nomination for president in 2016 but did not win the election both times. This quote says that we should welcome all peoples into our country, just like the Native Americans did when we first came here.

    9: “Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University.” -Mitt Romney. Romney ran for president in 2012 and won the Republican nomination for president but fell to incumbent Barack Obama. Romney is an outspoken Donald Trump critic and the quote pretty much speaks for itself. If you don’t get the Trump University reference, just Google it.

    10: “The America of John McCain has no need to be made great again, because it was always great.” -Meghan McCain. Meghan McCain is the daughter of former U.S. senator, Naval Captain, and prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. President Trump has always hated McCain because McCain is a good human being, and Trump has even went as far as to criticize McCain for being a POW. John McCain recently died from brain cancer, and this quote was said by Meghan at his funeral.

    This connects with me. You can't expect everyone to good at one thing, and if they aren't they don't qualify as a "genius". For example I am not good at your traditional sports: basketBALL, baseBALL, or another sports like that. But that doesn't mean I am not an athlete.

    This reminds me that not everything is handed to you. GO OUT AND DO IT YOURSELF. I personally don't have an example, but however I have seen this is my uncle. After law school he couldn't seem to find a job because he didn't have experience, so he opened a law firm.

    Give the little extra. It will add up over time and be a lot. If you can't do the little things like an extra lap, then you can't do the big things. For example, in XC you can either run 1 warm up lap or 2. 1 extra lap might not seem like a lot but they add up.

    Without the bad, we wouldn't know the good. If we never cried, we would not be able to recognize the joy. This is a great quote to remember when something rough is going on. Fighting is a part of friendships, but it is worth the fighting if it means you get the good times!

    5.) “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” - Michael Jordan

    Sometimes you fail. Why is that a surprise? Did you expect to start out amazing at something? Remember, even Michael Jordan missed shots. He didn't give up. Example: The first race I got 4th, not that great. Next time, I got 2nd, still not that great. But I'm getting better each time and to me that is succeeding.

    6.) “If you take away a person’s struggle, you take away their victory. It’s like pulling a caterpillar out of it’s cocoon before it’s time. It will never develop into a butterfly.” - Cameron C. Taylor

    Just like this quote says, without the struggle, there is no victory. Just remember, the pain and the hardships are worth it if in the end you come out a victorious "butterfly". Example: I feel like the word XC is enough to explain this quote,

    Don't make your dream something small that isn't difficult to achieve. Aim high, shoot low. Example: Strive for first! Not 6th.

    Only way to fully achieve your goals is to push through. Example: You can't stop when the going gets tough!

    9.) “It is our darkest moments that we must focus on the light.” –Aristotle Onassis

    When your having a hard time pushing through, just think of why your here in the first place.
    Example: When you feel like quitting just think about WHY.

    This quote means something to me because I don’t think of my house as a house in which builders built. I cherish it as my home.

    I can connect to this quote because it represents my home. We can laugh and be ourselves. But when we can cry together and feel loved instead of judged.
