Of your five primary senses, which sense would trouble you the most to lose? Why? Explain its importance and why it would be devastating to lose, relative to your other senses.
Of course, I would be upset if I lost any of my senses. But I would be most upset if I lost my sense of hearing. There is a never-ending debate over which is worse: blindness or deafness. The common answer for most people who still have all their senses is that blindness is worse. I also thought that initially, but I’ve heard many deaf people say that the world is completely lost to them. You can’t hear any sounds of nature, of the city, etc. You can’t even hear people talking to you, which brings me to my next point. Deafness makes it so much more difficult to communicate with the people you love, and even if you can talk to them in sign language, it just wouldn’t be the same as having an actual, spoken conversation. If I were to choose to protect one of my senses for my entire life, it would be my hearing.
The sense that would be most devastating for me to lose is my eyesight. It would be devastating because then you wouldn't be able to see the world or any of the people in it. Eyesight is important because it allows you to learn new things through you sight. If you lost your hearing, smell, taste, or touch it would also be devastating but at least you would be able to see the world around you. Without my eyesight, I would never be able to actually see my family, new people, or even a reflection of myself. Without eyesight, you can't see anything and you would ever be able to travel the world and see new things.
Out of the 5 senses I would say that the worst one to lose would be sight. I say this because I feel as though sight is superior to all the other senses, and it is sometime taken for granted. Like say you are watching your favorite TV show. Then all of a sudden, poof, your vision is gone. Sure you can hear it, but is that enough to really understand what is going on? The reasons why losing your vision goes way further then just not being able to watch TV. It will affect your life on a daily basis. You will have to be assisted every time you leave your home. You can easily purchase a walking stick and walk about, but you are still at risk of not seeing hazards your walking stick couldn’t pick up right away. All it takes is the slightest incline to trip and fall then break something or bang your head. So this is why I believe that sight would be the worst sense to lose.
The beauty of the morning sunset, the sight of your morning hair in the mirror that makes chuckle, the look you and your friend share from across the room. No other sense can ever amount to the sense of sight. Hearing the sound of screeching cars, angry yelling, and harsh words doesn't even compete. The taste of rancid food, and the face you make pretending your mothers casserole is "not that bad" is not even in the same category as sight. Sight, to me, would be the worst sense to loose. To me, sight is most significant because it allows you to observe the world around you. Without sight, you wouldn't know your family's faces, you couldn't get around easily by yourself, and you would live in consent dark. To me, that is terrifying. My other senses clearly are a huge part of my life, and without them it would be difficult, but I feel that it would be simpler to loose touch, hearing, smell, or taste rather then the ability to see.
If I would lose my sight, I would be heartbroken. I love seeing nature, my friends, family, and learning. It would be very hard for me to get used to not being able to see what is happening and comprehend. I wouldn’t be able to communicate easily, move confidently, or do anything without braille. Coordination is already an issue for me currently, so I’d definitely struggle until I got used to it. Along with struggling to walk, I would get very frustrated with not being able to see everything. I love meeting new people and seeing new faces, also the bright colors of the outdoors. Lastly it would be so hard to learn. Learning is almost always based off of visuals, whether that be a paper, power points, or workbooks. That would be so difficult.
If I lost my sense of taste it would be a complete and utter tragedy. I would be saddened beyond belief if i could no longer taste my favorite foods. It would be a very bad experience to not have the since of taste because then you cannot taste anything new and trying new foods would be pointless as you cannot taste them. I also feel like if i were to lose my sense of taste then i would most likely only be able to taste the last thing i ate so it wouldn't be too bad because i would constantly taste rice crispy treats but at the same time i feel like it would be very bad to loose his sense and all of its perks.
If I were to lose one of my five senses at random, losing my hearing would be the most devastating. I rely on hearing at all times. My day starts out with noise from my alarm, telling me to wake up. On the ride to school, music keeps me motivated. Throughout the day, my ears help me focus. How am I supposed to know when someone is taking, who is talking, or what people are talking about? When I start day dreaming in class, it’s the voices of others that brings me back to reality. Would I never be mentally present? Have you ever tried talking when you have head phones on? Your voice is always too loud because you judge how loud to talk on whether you can hear yourself. Would this cause me to talk much too loud? If so, then whispering is just out of the question. Plus, I can’t read lips! How will someone communicate with me if they don’t know sign language? It would be lonely just talking to myself all the time. Many difficulties come with the loss of hearing. Everyday things, such as crossing the street or driving, would become more of a challenge. Although I’m pretty sure I could live without my hearing, it would be very difficult. (One good thing would be the fact that I could focus on my task easily without distractions for others)
If there was one sense I couldn't live without it would be my sense of touch. I couldn't live without feeling the warmth of my dog as she jumps into my lap after not seeing my for months. I couldn't live knowing that I'd never feel my mothers touch again. I could adapt to find ways for not seeing or hearing but touch isn't something that can be replaced. You can't ever replace the feeling you get when you hug the people you love, you cant replace the feeling of when those tears stream down your face from either happiness, sadness, or even from laughing. I definitely couldn't live without that feeling.
It would be devastating for me to lose my hearing because I rely on my hearing almost as much I do my sight. I have no clue what I would do with out my music. Music can determine my mood. It can help me calm down when I'm angry or upset. Sometimes it feels like I rely on my hearing more than my sight. My sight and hearing are like a team. If I lose one the other can't function the same as before. I like listening to voices. It's how I identify people when I can't see them. I am not a big fan of being touched all the time so losing my hearing would mean some people would touch me to get my attention and it would make me uncomfortable constantly. I would be jumpy all the time because I couldn't hear people coming. You can get some of a person's personality from a person's voice. I really don't know what I would do with out my hearing and I hope I never find out.
Out of all my senses, I think hearing would be the one that would trouble me the most to lose. I would be devastated if I couldn’t listen to or play music. Music is one of my favorite things in the world. I am listening to music all the time, and I always have a song in my head. I don’t know what I would do I that were to stop. I also am always watching TV, or a movie. You would think that if you weren’t able to see the show or movie you were watching, you’d get upset. I think I would get more upset if I couldn’t hear it. If I can’t see it, then it becomes like a book. I get to imagine, but I still get to hear the character’s voice and the emotion behind the words. If I couldn’t hear the show or movie, I don’t think I would want to watch it anymore. It would become boring to me. Another thing I love is reading, and you would think if I lost the sense of sight or the sense of touch I would be upset. I wouldn’t. That’s what audiobooks are for, so you can listen in peace. Whenever I go on vacation, my family always goes somewhere full of nature. I would miss some of the sights and smells, but if I didn’t have hearing I would miss the sounds most of all. I love the noise of trees rustling, and the crunching as you walk on a path. I love the sounds of waves crashing on rocks or the sounds of boats in the sea. I love to hear birds chirping and children playing. I love even the sounds of bustling cities, and amusement parks. I love the noise the wind makes as you go through it at a fast speed. I love the sound of rain and the sound of lightning and thunder that comes with it. I would be lost without sound and without noises. Don’t get me wrong, I love food and I would be upset if I couldn’t taste it. I love seeing amazing and beautiful things and would be upset if I couldn’t see it. I would miss the feel of soft blankets and fuzzy coats if I lost the sense of touch. I would miss the smells that bring back memories you’ve forgotten. But, even if I were to lose the sense of sight, smell, touch, and taste, and still have the sense of sound I would be happy. With sound, it’s almost like you have all your senses.
I think all my 5 senses are extremely important and I'm very blessed and happy knowing I have all 5 each and everyday while some people are missing just 1 and their life is completely different. I think the sense that would be crucial to lose would be my sight. If I lost my sight, I wouldn't be able to see the things I probably take for granted each day. For example, my clothes I wear. I wouldn't be able to see the things that make me, me. I express myself through my clothes and I have my very own unique style. So for me not being able to see that, would devastate me. Plus I would probably forget what I would look like over time. I'm not saying completely forget, but little things. Also, my face and body will change over time and I think it scares me knowing that I could potentially look so different and not being able to see it. There are many other things like not seeing family and friends, not seeing what it would look like outside, not seeing what your pets look like or maybe even your future child. You would just be living in a world of darkness and try to make the best of it. So all in all, I hope I never lose my sight or any of my senses.
In my opinion, the worst of the five senses to lose would be eyesight. If you didn't have your sight, you could not see in front of you when you were walking. You would be in constant danger of running into something. You also wouldn’t be able see what colors look like. I would never be able to imagine what colors look like without ever seeing them. If you were blind, you would never get to see any of the beauties of nature in our world. You would also never get to see what a human looks like. If you didn’t have your eyesight, you couldn’t look in a mirror. You would not know what you looked like. There are many tools for blind people to help them, but they still cannot see. I suppose you could touch and feel objects to imagine their shape and size, but you still could never know exactly what an object looked like without seeing it. Personally, I am a very visual learner. If I did not have my eyesight, school would be a struggle for me. Not only the learning aspect, but simply getting around the school would be impossible. If I were blind, I could never see my friends, teachers, or family. There are so many beautiful things in this world that a blind person could never see.
Out of all the senses I believe that it would be the hardest for me to lose my sense of sight. Although it would be hard to lose hearing, I believe that losing your vision would be extremely hard. I can not imagine what it would be like to walk around outside and have no idea what your surroundings look like. We need our sight for so many things: driving, learning, watching were we are going, and simply just to pick up on other peoples emotions through facial expressions. I feel like it would be very hard for me to have to complete normal everyday tasks without being able to see. Without a doubt we all use our vision every single day, therefore it would be hardest for me to lose.
I am so thankful that I can have all five of my senses in my everyday life. Every sense provides me with something unique. I think if I were to lose a sense, eyesight would be the toughest one for me lose. For me eyesight would be the toughest to lost because I couldn’t see the world that I live in. There are so many things that my eyesight gives me. In school I would start to struggle, because I am a visual learner. I like to look at pictures to see what's happening. I know it would be very hard to continue playing the three sports I love. I couldn’t imagine not being able to play the sports I do right now because I lost my eyesight. Another thing I know would be super difficult for me would that I wouldn’t be able to see my beautiful family and friends. Going from seeing them every day and knowing every single feature on their body to never being able to see the again would be hard. Speaking of beautiful things, the world. All the beautiful sunsets, sunrises, leaves falling, and a freshly fallen snow. There are so many beautiful things in world that in a blink of an eye they are all gone.
out of all of my senses the one that would suck to lose the most is my sense of taste. if i couldnt taste anything ever again, i wouldnt like anything. i also wouldnt want to lose my taste because i like food and if i lost my taste then i wouldnt be able to enjoy food as much as i do now.
I would not like to lose my sense of sight because that is the most important to me. How terrible would it be to lose seeing everything that matters the most to you. You wouldn't even be able to see colors. What kind of world is it without seeing things and colors. I don't think I could do it.
