It's the year 2102, and you've recently passed away after a long, memorable life. Write the obituary of your long, fantastic life. What did you accomplish? What was noteworthy? What family did you have? Were you famous (or infamous) for something? Which newspapers will run your obituary? Go look at some on-line examples to get ideas.
Nora Noonan was born on October 11th, 2002 in Dubuque, Iowa. Nora's parents were Kevin and Jenni Noonan from Bernard. Nora died on December 15, 2102 in her home in Bora Bora alongside her husband. She now lives through her children, Eloise, Everly, and Rhett. Nora is most known for her outstanding accomplishments through volunteer work. She took many trips to help struggling countries and made a living while doing what she loved with her husband and family by her side. Many people all over the world are now grieving after this shocking loss and it will most likely be on national news. But life goes on...
ReplyDeleteHarley Marie Bradtke-Stelken, 99 years old, died January 26th 2102 in her nursing home room, following a brief illness.
ReplyDeleteShe leaves her brothers, her husband, her 3 children, and her many close friend. Born and raised in Iowa, the daughter of two loving parents, she was a lifelong resident of the small town, Cascade.
In her early years, she spent her time playing sports and hanging out with friends. She never was any good at sports that included balls, but did participate in: cross country, track, and swimming. After graduating from Cascade High School in 2022, she went to college where she met her husband. They got married in Hawaii, and honeymooned on a cruise back to The States.
After about two years, they started their family, with an adorable baby girl, following with 2 little boys. Harley encouraged her children to get into sports, and they even ended up getting scholarships because of them. As much as she encouraged sports, she encouraged academics even more. She raised her kids the same way she was raised, work before play. The, now grown up, kids, will miss their Mother dearly, but know that she is in a good place.
In her free time, Harley enjoyed volunteer work, helping at the church, and hanging out with her friends. She always knew that her calling was to find someway to help people. Harley was a loving Mother, wife, and friend.
A funeral service was held at the funeral home of Cascade with a private burial following after.

Aly Spear died tragically after the loss of her only child. Aly was born on November 19th, 2002 in St. Joe, Missouri. The world mourns the loss of the famous writer and her only son. All she left behind was her wonderful fantasy books and her only grandchild. Aly's son was taken by cancer and Aly died died a year later from the heartbreak. Aly was in the middle of writing her last book when she died. The book will forever be unfinished, kept by her granddaughter. Aly had a hard life but she pushed through and wrote about it to share with the world. She wrote in hope of helping other people get through hard times. her son was on his way to becoming a CEO of his company but died before he could see it through. Aly was left with money and company that she passed down to her son's daughter. Aly died peacefully in her sleep.
ReplyDeleteEmma Jean Ostwinkle has passed away after a century of awesomeness (8/31/2002-10/31/2102). She died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Greece. She was a magnificent person who excelled at everything she did.
ReplyDeleteShe grew up in a small town in Cascade, Iowa. While there, she accomplished a lot. She had no coordination whatsoever, which is why she was outstanding at Cross Country and competitive Swimming. Since sports were not her thing, she focused on music. She played six instruments throughout high school, and sang in a Jazz choir. While public speaking was not her favorite, she still succeeded in Speech. She graduated High School in 2021 and went on to college to double major in Anthropology and Archaeology. She became a top Cultural Anthropologist and dedicated her life in uncovering cultures of the past.
While she never married or had children, she will be remembered by all those who worked with her. They remember her as a caring person who supported everybody's dreams. She was a wonderful teacher who was never to busy to help someone in need. She was a beautiful person, who didn’t look a day over 99, and she had a beautiful heart. Everyone she knew will miss her, but they know that she’s in a better place.
Her wake will be held on November 2 at 3:00 in the afternoon, and her funeral will be the following day at 11:00 in the morning.
In loving memory of Lillie Pearl Merfeld (100 years) of Bernard, Iowa. Lillie was found unresponsive by her adoptive daughter, Mia Merfeld, on March 21, 2102. It is believed that she passed away peacefully after celebrating her 100th birthday the day prior, with her loving family. Anyone who was close too Lillie will miss her crazy, fun loving attitude but they know she will always be remembered through the memories they shared. Services for Lillie with be held on March 26th from 10am-3pm and lunch will be provided. The Merfelds would like everyone to know that all family and friends are welcome to attend this celebration of life at Lillie’s childhood home in Bernard, Iowa. ReplyDeleteIsaac James Martin, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Bernard, Iowa Tuesday, December 16. Martin was born January 31, 2004 from parents Marcia Gansen Martin and David Martin. He outlived his sister, Evelyn, brother, Raymond and wife, Cynthia Smith Martin. Martin had two biological children: son, Walter, and daughter, Kathryn, who are both living today. He and Cynthia also adopted one child, a boy who they named James. Martin attended the University of Iowa and majored in journalism. He then spent most of his career as a journalist and football analyst for ESPN. Martin was known for being a Chicago Bears fan. One of the high points of his life was attending Super Bowl LV, in which the Bears defeated the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 30 to 17. Martin was also known for his kindness and generosity. He wanted to make sure that he shared his wealth and he wanted to make everybody around him happy. Wake services will be at Reiff Funeral Home services in Cascade, IA on December 20, 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., and funeral services will be at Garryowen Church in Bernard, IA on December 21 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Bernard, IA. The cemetery is located just about one hundred yards away from his childhood home.
ReplyDeleteRachel Catherine Rhomberg died on December 9th, 2102 at 100 years of age. Rachel loved to travel throughout her life. She took her last breath while making the climb to the top of Mt. Everest. Her goal was to set a record for the oldest person to ever climb the mountain. She died of hypothermia after hours of suffering in the cold.
ReplyDeleteShe was a very adventurous woman, even in her old age. Her husband died in 2078, and her two children live with their families in Iowa. She took her voyages solo, but visited home very frequently. Rachel lived a long, enjoyable life. Her husband was a pilot and Rachel was a flight attendant. They both retired at the age of 60 and enjoyed the luxuries of flying a private plane around the world. Rachel and her husband often brought their kids and grandchildren along on their adventures.
Family and friends of Rachel know that she would not want anyone to mourn over her death. Instead, celebrate the good life she lived. Her wake will be held on December 12 at 4 pm and the funeral will be the following morning at 11. The services will take place in her hometown of Cascade, Iowa.
Natalie Johnston was born on October 2nd of 2002 in Dubuque Iowa to Kari and Christopher Johnston. She grew up in Cascade Iowa, in a house of three siblings; she had a half sister, a half brother and a full sister who are all older than her. Natalie grew up with both of her parents having depression and anxiety and having to see her half siblings go to their moms every other weekend. this was hard enough on her, but it was even harder for her when her dads older brother, her Uncle Randall passed away on September 18 of 2011 from a drug and alcohol overdose. she was depressed but after that happened, she because so depressed that she thought about suicide for a couple of years just so she could be with her uncle. she grew up and her oldest sister had a little boy named Jase Randall Johnston who she loved very much. She graduated from Cascade jr sr high school in 2021 and went to hawkeye commuity college where she got her gen Eds and went to University of Northern Iowa, where she graduated and became a teacher. She later had six kids that she loved very much, a three boys and three girls. after her kids went off to college, their father passed away from cancer, leaving Natalie to take care of herself and her grandkids all by herself. after a ten years, natalie passed away from alzheimer's at the age of 105. for more information, please text Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly at 319-352-1187.
ReplyDeleteOn September 27th, 2018 Lillian Elizabeth Trumm passed away. Lillian Elizabeth Trumm was born on June 2nd, 2002 (100 years old). The cause of Lillian death is still unknown. Lillian grew up in small town Cascade, Iowa. Lillian came from a rather large family. She had many cousins and siblings. Her family will as miss her very much. She had a very outgoing and friendly personality that everyone loved to be around.
ReplyDeleteIn Lillian's youth she attends Cascade High School, graduating in 2020. After high school Lillian attended Kirkwood and University of Iowa to get her degree in Dental Hygiene.
Lillian loved dogs, she had 2 puppies. Her dogs were her best friends. She has one golden lab and one cocker spaniel. Aside from playing with her dogs, Lillian's favorite hobbies were working at her job. Lillian was a dental hygienist that worked in Dubuque, Iowa until she retired at the age of 58. Lillian also enjoyed going for walks in town and going out to eat with her friends.
Lillian's services will be held on September 30th, 2018 from 3:00pm-8:00pm. All are welcome to come join the services. Burial services will be held October 1st, 2018 starting at 11:00am, with a meal to follow.
Grace Bergfeld, 99 years old, unfortunately died on October 17th, 2102 while watching her favorite TV show, "The Wiggles."
ReplyDeleteGrace grew up in the small rural town of Bernard, Iowa with her 2 younger siblings, Lilly and Will Bergfeld, and her parents, Christy and Dean Bergfeld. She had an amazing childhood and learned many life lessons along the way to her early adulthood life. She graduated from Cascade Junior/Senior High School in 2021. She was known for her witty personality and always being there for someone in need. She also loved being on stage putting on plays and musicals while also doing Speech and going to school to school winning many competitions.
For college she went to Iowa City and excelled in mental heath and counseling. She worked very hard for what she was passionate about while having fun in between. She went to many college football games, went out with friends, and even joined a sorority. At age 21 she met her husband and they both married at age 23 while still working hard in college.
When she and her husband graduated, they decided to stay in Iowa City to grow a family. A pet family to be exact. They had a wiener dog named "Pickles", a Pomeranian dog name "Nugget", and a Persian cat named "Craig". They lived a happy life in their nice and cozy home and she and her husband loved to travel together. They went to Paris, Italy, Costa Rica, Greece, and traveled all 50 states.
Grace will be remembered for her good friendship, open heart and open mind, humor, her quirkiness, and helping many high school students with issues ranging from their school schedules to finding their happiness again. She was an amazing person with an amazing legacy and will be never forgotten.
Her wake will be held October 20th, 2102 at 5:00 in the afternoon and her funeral following the next day at 3:00 in the afternoon, all are invited and welcome.
Elijah C. Green, 99, of Cascade, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2102 in his bed with his cat. His cause of death is still unknown but the authorities assume it’s from a heart attack.
ReplyDeleteHe was born May 29, 2003, in Cascade, Iowa, son of Noah and Amy (Knepper) Green. He attended Cascade Elementary for his primary schools years, then went to high school at Cascade Jr. /Sr. High School. After high school he went straight into the work force creating his own company, which sold a new type of cat nip. His company almost immediately closed due to massive amounts of tax fraud. He went down as the worst entrepreneur in history and was on the front page of the New York Times. However, this worked to his advantage, as he became a publicity stunt and made millions for his unsuccessfulness. He was also a bachelor, never wanting to settle down. In his free time Elijah enjoyed fishing and sitting around with family and friends. He will be remembered by his comical self and his all-around kindness.
A funeral service will be held at Rieff Funeral Home, in his hometown of Cascade, Iowa. A private burial will be held following the service. You can find his obituary in most newspapers, and in The New York Times magazine.
Taylor Nicole Menster, 102 years old, passed away on February 17, 2104. She was found unresponsive in her home that day. Taylor lived every moment of her life to the fullest. She was always doing something and making the most of it. She enjoyed playing and watching sports.
ReplyDeleteTaylor left behind her four children, Beckett Blake, Eloriey, and Cleo. Her beloved husband passed away in 2102. Taylor’s parents were Matt and Carrie Menster. Her children and grandchild now mourn. Taylor had eleven grandchildren, with two more on the way.
She was a Cascade Highschool graduate, along with her parents, husband, and four children. Her four children and their children still reside in small-town Cascade.
Services for Taylor will be held in Cascade, Iowa. Her wake will be Tuesday 21st from 2:30-8 p.m. Taylor’s funeral service will be held at the church starting at 10 a.m. All friends and family of Taylor’s are welcome.
Anna McDermott was born to Jason and Deanne McDermott on March 1st 2003. She was a generous and fun person who was always making new friends and went on many adventures. She died on April 24th 2102 at the age of 99 peacefully in her sleep. Anna lived every moment to the fullest, even in her years of old age.

Anna graduated from Cascade high school in 2021. She went on to graduate from Iowa State with a degree in psychiatry. Anna went on to work at a hospital in New York City until she retired at age 60.
Anna’s wake will be held in Cascade, Iowa on April 27th starting at 3 p.m. and concluding around 8 p.m. Her funeral will take place on April 30th starting at 11:00 a.m.

Isaiah Roling was born January 20th in the year of 2003, he ran a very successful car garage and a rally racing team for the majority of his adult life. For most of his childhood life he grew up without a father and started to grow his interest in cars however at the age of 13 his entire life was flipped upside down when his real father decided to come back into his life, bringing Isaiah's two little sisters (Taylor, Paizlea) with him. Isaiah's father encouraged him to work on vehicles by teaching him everything he knew. Isaiah was not a very well known person for the fact that he didn't talk to many people, a lot of people know more about his garage then of him. ReplyDeleteSamantha Furry of Zwingle Iowa passed away after living her life being a famous psychologist who studied schizophrenia and made ground breaking discoveries. She lived in Los Angles California with her husband and 2 kids. She died peacefully in her sleep. She will be greatly missed by all.
